Vietnam Veterans Memorial – A Walk-through

A friend of mine on Facebook lost her father in the Vietnam war. She was very young at the time, and over the years has picked up only bits & pieces of information about him from relatives etc. She thought of visiting the Memorial in Washington DC many times but never really took the necessary steps – not ready for what emotions it may bring.

I posted a photo on Facebook on Memorial Day – the photo that you see below of the man sitting alone in front of the wall, hurt written all over his face. My FB friend saw it and mentioned that she had always wanted to see the memorial, that she had lost her father in the war. I told her I would post the pictures I had for her – and now Im posting them for you. Meeting her on fb and talking about this made Memorial Day a little more real for me – brought me a little closer to those Americans who have lost a loved one while serving their country.

So, this is for her – a walk-through of the memorial via the web until she decides to go in person – and for those of us who have mostly looked at Memorial day as just a party weekend or an extra day off school or work – There is an unimaginable price that has been paid for the freedom we enjoy in this country. Never forget.

My son Jaiden started Coach Pitch baseball this year, after 2 years of teeball. Its been super dope seeing how much he gets into it – and watching his coordination and athleticism increase over the years is like watching God at work. He’s been playing a lot of catcher so hes gettin down and dirty. I got a few grimy ‘I been puttin in work’ shots..Can you guess which one is my favorite?

For my niece Alaysha’s 5th Birthday my sister planned a full day – this was gonna be her last birthday before kindergarten and everything that comes along with it – so she wanted to make it special. She had a party planned for the evening with the family, but the afternoon was open for a photoshoot in the park. Alaysha has a HUGE personality, so of course it came through in these pics :)

The Unspoken Word
hangs in the air like a cloud,
covering up the sun
or
bringing rain.
Not rain to irrigate but
rain to irritate-
pain to mirror hate,
affecting the hearer, wait..
No one heard-
The Unspoken Word.

The Unspoken Word-
Is it too hard to speak?
Or-unspoken, does it keep
those who would leap
from jumping?
Thought better kept to self, does the thought-if unshelved,
impact as though help had just came?

Or is it just rain?
Itself, disguised as a cloud,
in reality-so loud-in its absence.
Profound.
If we had sense, more now.
Since that word left unspoke,
Said so much – though no hope
Because faith was so broke.

The Unspoken Word.
What if life hung between
when you said what you mean
and that thing which it seemed?
If it teetered the line would you take any time?
Sacrifice any dime? Just to change any mind?

Speak the Unspoken Word.
Let your life be an unspoken verb-
taking action and heard by example preferred.
Let your speech be not slurred
remove UN from unspoken – tell truth to the broken.
The time is at hand.

NE Ohio Portrait Photographer – Kory Miles

Good times. I love what I do and sometimes it’s even easier than others. Kory Miles is a singer/songwriter/minister/father from Canton Ohio by way of Texas. He is the CEO & Founder of Resurrected Praise Ministries, as well as Live it L.O.U.D., and hosts the Soul Sessions on the first Sunday night of every month at The Auricle in Canton, OH.

We’ve become friends over the past year and are working on getting together to make a joyful noise on a song sometime here soon as well.

After we got started 2 hrs passed like it was nothing. Aside from a quick PitBull-off-the-leash situation (wheretheydoTHATat?)where I had to check the owner real quick(Come on man – in the CITY?) everything went smooth and we got just over 2000 shots to work with. Below are a few of the highlights.
